Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, from Akwa Ibom state, made a historic feat on Monday 15th of may 2023, when she broke the Guinness World Record for longest cooking time by an individual.
As at 4.00pm on Monday, Hilda Baci has cooked for 96hours to surpass the previous record set by an Indian chef, Lata Tondon in 2019. The previous titleholder cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs.
Baci started her four-day cooking marathon challenge on May 11th, the event, which is taking place at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos had many Nigerians defying the rain and the sun to cheer up the chef.
So many prominent Nigerians have all come out to cheer her up, many have also sent congratulatory messages to Hilda Baci for her resilient Nigerian spirit.
Hilda has been cooking nonstop even on reaching her target of 96 hours and plans to continue cooking till she hits 100 hours.
Many Nigerians took to their social media platforms to call for Guinness World Records to confirm Baci’s new record.
Guinness World Records through their official handle replied “We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record.”
